What are we really arguing about. . .

Members of the public are drifting into the climate change sceptic camp in recent months and years. How do we stem the flow?

To the majority of the world’s scientists, global warming is a clear and present danger and those who deny it, or argue that its effects will limited or benign, are dangerous lunatics. . . .

I highly recommend this article. I am putting it in first place for this new blog because it is a pretty good piece of popular technical writing. The author does justice to both sides of the issue, uses enough rhetorical devices to make his meaning clear, avoids technical language, and draws a reasonable conclusion. Would that all the stuff I read on these subjects was more like this.

    Jim,
Congratulations, your blog looks excellent! I read all of Goodall’s excellent article. The only way to combat the position that golbal warming is not related to human activity is to continue to dispute, with scientifically supported facts, the notion that humans are not involved. Eventually, as is the ever increasing support among the population, for the fact of evolution and with the demonstration of the adverse effects of global warming, people will realize the truth. We must be patient and above all avoid arrogance.
